Poker Namur Event
Just about three weeks to go until I will leave for the Paradise Poker Tour and Spain. Having a full schedule for the 4-5 days in Barcelona does not mean, that I am not checking other qualifiers and tourneys in the meantime. Since I have another two days off of work (vacation on Monday and holiday on Tuesday), I have checked the qualifiers on Pokerstars and decided to play every sub-qualifier for the daily finales for the Belgian Poker Series Finale in Namur:
All together that means I will be investing 104 € plus rebuys and addon in the 3.30 € and the 2.20 € sub-qualifiers, the 500 FPP sub-qualifier will be played as a little add-on to the project. Rebuys and/or addon in the finales will be only used if I win multiple seats to the finale and/or out of my own pocket.

First time playing poker in a casino: Once again thanks to work, I was in CA in 2004 the week of a tournament and decided to stay over the weekend and go watch the event. It was the Bay 101 shooting stars tournament. I had a lot of fun watching, saw lots of well known pros, and got to play in some low stakes sitngo side events. Posts about Namur written by Shmendric. I have been an Amateur Poker Player for round about five years now. I have a pretty normal 9-5 job and consider Poker a hobby – others are playing Golf or Tennis and paying lots of money for their equipment, I am actually getting money back doing my hobby. Besides these qualifiers I will have a look on other qualifiers, such as the ones on Paradise Poker. I cashed in as little as 100 € to play tonite’s qualifiers for packages for the tour and I will be playing both, sub-qualifiers and the direct buyin qualifier, since there are three packages guaranteed in the qualifier:
Having a short review on last week’s happenings it all started good with the succesful cashgame session in Saarbrücken. Trying to use the momentum of Sunday, I went to Casino Trier on Monday and played another NL400 session, but that time again with no good ending. I used and lost three bullets of 200 €, but will only calculate two of them to the project since using 600 € on one nite is definately not what was intended by my own rules. Still, the loss of 400 € combined with online winnings of $75 by not winning a seat a finale on 888poker and the winnings on Sunday, leaves me almost break-even for the week. Lets see if today will be +ROI!
Of course, it depends on who you ask.
What is the highlight of a visit to Namur, the capital of Wallonia, between Liege to the east, and Charleroi to the west?
To most visitors making their way to this gateway to the Ardennes, it would likely be the citadel, with its World Heritage status, its history, and a golden statue of a giant turtle (seriously Wikipedia?)
It might even be the Fight for the Golden Stilt, not a chapter in a Harry Potter story, but the annual custom held every September in which two teams dress in medieval garb and do battle, on stilts.
Well now we'd like to add another attraction to that list, a PokerStars one, for visitors with poker in mind. Specifically, the MEGASTACK Namur event.
For the first time, the Casino de Namur reached more than 1,000 entries for a single event, with 1,051 entries for the MEGASTACK Main Event. A new record.
If your French is up to it you can find a report of the event here, otherwise we can tell you it was Zak Bryan who took first place, and a winner's cheque for €12789.
That came after a five-way deal that ultimately left runner up Alain Rachard with the biggest payday if not gold, with €14,231. None of which was bad at all for a €170 buy-in.
Congratulations to the winners, but also our thanks to the players who helped set that record.
Want to help set a record in the next MEGASTACK event? There are five coming up this month alone in various locations in Europe and the United States. You can find the details of those event, and all MEGASTACK tournaments, on the MEGASTACK homepage.
So add poker to your reasons to visit Namur. We'd still like to see that turtle though.
