Craps 6 8 Progression

The 1-3-2-6 Betting System is another very popular and simple to use positive progression strategy that works well for ‘even money’ and ‘near even money’ bets at the casino.

It’s widely used in the games of Roulette, Craps, Baccarat and Blackjack and is popular with players of all skill levels. Beginners to advanced players use it for its simplicity and ease of execution while focusing on the other parts of the game.

Once the inside point is set, I will bet the 6 and 8 for $6 each. On a win of the first 6 I tell the dealer to place the 9, or if the 8 wins first then I place the 5. If by 4 rolls of the shooter I have not hit my win-takedown conditions, I then tell the dealer to take down all the bets and I wait for the next shooter. Knowledge of betting progression at the craps table offers a way to win larger amounts of money. See charts on the press and pull, pull and press and up a unit betting progressions to see how they work. If I play an inside number strategy that includes the 5, 6, 8, and 9 I'll run separate progressionson the six and eight versus the five and nine. The same is true if I'm playing an across strategy. My basic six and eight progression for a $5 game begins with 3 units each on the six and eight.

The 1-3-2-6 System utilizes the following steps;

  • Determine the betting unit you’ll be using based on your bankroll
  • Bet 1 unit to start, if you win
  • Bet 3 units, if you win
  • Bet 2 units, if you win again
  • Bet 6 units, when you’ve won your 4th consecutive win
  • Bet 1 unit, and start the progression over again
  • Bet 1 unit after any loss regardless of where you are in the progression

As you can see, there are a number of advantages to using this system.

  1. It weathers losing streaks by returning to a 1 unit bet after any and all loses
  2. By not chasing your losses, the risk of financial ruin is significantly reduced
  3. It is very structured and easy to follow making it easier to manage your bankroll
  4. It takes full advantage of winning streaks (after 4 consecutive wins, you’ll have racked 12 units of winnings)
  5. And it works well on choppy, warm and hot tables

Like all systems, the 1-3-2-6 System does not change the house edge (casino advantage) in the long run, but by altering the way wins and losses are incurred in the short term, gives you a good chance of leaving the casino with additional cash in your pocket.

Let’s take a look at how this system works with a $10 per unit base bet.

Bet # Bet Amt. Outcome Net Winnings

  • 1 $10 Lose -$10
  • 2 $10 Lose -$20
  • 3 $10 Lose -$30
  • 4 $10 Win -$20
  • 5 $30 Win +$10
  • 6 $20 Win +$30
  • 7 $60 Win +$90
  • 8 $10

In the example above, we remained at a 1 unit ($10) bet after any losing bet. We used the 1-3-2-6 progression on the winning streak and after 4 consecutive wins, we reverted back to the original $10 bet.

Before using the 1-3-2-6 system, it’s recommended that you experiment and practice with it before placing real money on the tables. It’s also recommended that you double check your bankroll to ensure you’re appropriately funded to execute this system.
